How It Works
Growers Local Ordering Cycle
What makes Growers Local special is that consumers know exactly what produce will be available each week and farmers know exactly how much has been ordered. Ordering through Growers Local takes place on a weekly cycle, with farmers indicating what will be available for the week, customers placing orders, and finally the big day: order pick ups!
1. Farmers indicate available weekly harvest
About a week before your order pickup date, farmers log in to the system and indicate what will be available to harvest that week. Farmers set their own prices, and you can select which farm your food comes from.
2. Growers Local creates bundles
Customers can pre-order subscription bundles that are delivered throughout the season. Once farmers enter their available harvests, Growers Local decides what will go into these pre-ordered bundles. Bundles can be CSA subscriptions or weekly deliveries to restaurants and other institutions.
3. Customers order online
In addition to ordering seasonal subscription bundles, customers can order individual items to be picked up just for that week. Want some fresh basil for your cocktail party on Friday? Order it online and a local central Minnesota farmer will pick it just for you!
4. Farmers harvest and drop off their produce
Farmers will check their harvest reports online after ordering for the week has been closed and bring their fresh local food to Growers Local. Growers Local will create bundles for customers based on their orders.
5. Customers pick up their orders
Orders are ready for pickup each week at Growers Local in St. Cloud. Large commercial orders may be delivered.
